     Dr. Freund earned his medical degree from McMaster University and dental training from the University of Toronto. He practices as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the Greater Toronto area. He is actively engaged in clinical training and research with extensive publications on the use of Botulinum Toxins in the head and neck.

Oro-facial pain patients make most General Practitioners as well as Specialists cringe. However, caring for these unfortunate individuals can be personally rewarding and advantageous for the practice. With a basic understanding of different types of pain and how to differentiate them, most patients can be quickly and effectively diagnosed. This presentation will focus on the most common non-tooth ache pain conditions presenting to the GP. This session will review the basic physiology of pain, and offer a simplified practical approach to dealing with the patient who presents in pain.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To quickly and confidently diagnose most common oro-facial pain conditions encountered in dental practice.
  2. To provide an algorithm for the treatment of these conditions. allowing them to decide whether to treat or to refer and to whom.
  3. Make attendees aware of different diagnostic and imaging techniques and when to use them.
