A new classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions was introduced in 2017 to reflect the current understanding of these diseases. The new classification strengthens the connection between diagnosis, prevention and treatment. This course will review the major changes of the 2017 classification and introduce a simplified and practical approach on how to incorporate it into dental practice.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe and differentiate different types of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.

• Interpret clinical findings to diagnose periodontal diseases.

• Explain staging and grading of periodontitis.

• Implement the classification into clinical practice in simple and practical manner.
